TEMP RELEASE TRAIN ENGINEER – JOHANNESBURG – RANDBURG

Facilitate, coordinate and provide direction to participants and stakeholders of the Agile Release Train (ART) in respect of processes and delivery execution – striving for the effective delivery of value and achievement of strategic intent. The RTE will escalate impediments, manage risk, help drive value delivery and help drive continuous improvement – as part of the MCG EBS agile transformation strategy.

Requirements

Value Delivery

  1. Manage and optimise flow of value delivery through the Agile Release Train
  2. Create appropriate visibility of progress through use of Kanban and other visual representations
  3. Facilitate PI Planning readiness ¡V of stakeholders needing to provide input into PI Planning as well as teams participating in PI Planning, ensuring appropriate awareness and creation of visibility of the Vision and Roadmap/s of desired / expected delivery
  4. Facilitate the PI Planning event
  5. Summarise team PI objectives into Programme PI objectives and publish for visibility of all stakeholders

Strategy & Execution Alignment

  1. Work with the Product Management / Owner community and other stakeholders to ensure strategy and execution alignment
  2. Assist / coach / guide accountable role players in economic decision-making processes ensuring alignment to strategy

Leadership

  1. Drive relentless improvement via Inspect & Adapt workshops and identify areas for improvement and help drive the achievement thereof
  2. Help establish and drive Communities of Practice
  3. Coach leaders, teams and Scrum Masters in Lean-Agile practices and mindsets

Portfolio Management

  1. Translate functional strategy into actionable roadmaps with measurable goals across the portfolio of work
  2. Facilitate the prioritisation of decisions across technology, business and resources
  3. Facilitate and participate in coordination activities to ensure the interplay between other Portfolios or Programmes and the ART all lead to desirable outcomes for the Enterprise
  4. Facilitate the management and monitoring of key interdependencies and complexities between the ART and other Portfolios / Programmes, ensuring these are communicated and understood across the business

 

Implementation – Execution and Delivery

  1. Assist in tracking the progress and delivery of Features and Capabilities
  2. Drive appropriate tool usage (Azure DevOps) across all teams on the ART as a means of visualisation of progress
  3. Facilitate regular synchronisation events – Scrum of Scrums and Product Owner Sync
  4. Encourage collaboration between teams and Solution and Platform Architects
  5. Collaborate with leadership to help drive DevOps practices in line with organisational objectives
  6. Help maintain a focus on UX and CX driven innovation
  7. Collaborate with PMO Leadership and Portfolio Managers on Portfolio, Programme and Project execution and operational excellence
  8. Facilitate System and Solution Demos
  9. Drive quality compliance, adherence to methodology and build for continuous optimisation within the Portfolio
  10. Assist in addressing critical bottlenecks Governance, Assurance, Financial Management, Risk Management, Monitoring and Reporting
  11. Help manage risks and dependencies
  12. Escalate and track impediments
  13. Operate within agreed budgets and adhere to any defined guardrails

 

Qualifications

  1. BCom / BSc Degree or equivalent qualification
  2. Portfolio / Programme Management certification
  3. Scaled Agile (SAFe) certification – Leading SAFe essential
  4. Scaled Agile (SAFe) certification – SAFe certified RTE preferred

Experience

  1. At least 5 years’ experience in leading portfolio/s or large programmes
  2. Experienced in principles of design thinking, lean agile software delivery and application of agile methods in delivery highly desirable
  3. Experience with working with African markets would be an advantage
