TECHNICAL PROJECT LEAD – GAUTENG – PARKTOWN

Main purpose of the job:

The Technical Project Lead is responsible to plan, initiate, and manage IT projects by taking full accountability to plan projects, initiate each stage of the project, assess business implications, and monitor progress to ensure deadlines, standards, and cost targets are met. They will lead and guide the work of IT team members on projects, serve as a liaison with clients, service providers and in respect of technical aspects of projects.

Key performance areas

  • Manage information technology projects based on a needs analysis and the IT strategy.
  • Develop detailed project plans, including goals and plans to meet those goals.
  • Develop guidelines for implementation, including a project team and schedules with team members responsibilities and deadlines.
  • Manage and maintain project timeframes, budgets for appropriate resource allocation and status reports
  • Identify information technology project resource requirements
  • Prepare project related reports.
  • Collaborate with IT team to resolve information technology issues affecting project implementation and completion.
  • Provide Specialist IT knowledge, guidance and support to project teams.
  • Develop information communication procedures
  • Conduct risk assessments for projects
  • Organise meetings to discuss project goals and progress

Required minimum education and training

  • Degree in IT or equivalent
  • Knowledge of IT and project management principles
  • Professional qualification in project management would be an advantage.

Required minimum work experience

  • 3 – 5 years’ work experience in an IT project management role
  • Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to take ownership of all allocated functions, projects, and problems.
  • Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines in an ever-changing environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Must have a positive attitude with the willingness to continuously grow in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
