Develop & implement long-range plans aligned to organisational objectives.
Define annual External Affairs Hoshins.
Align Client External Affairs to their Global External Affairs
Define standards, programs, and where necessary policies.
Benchmark Client External Affairs against their Affiliate best practice and implement improvements.
Formulate and roll out information management strategies.
Develop & implement systems to enable the analysis of information.
Develop partnerships with Government & Industry monitoring consultants.
Where necessary engage external research analysts.
Define & implement processes and standards for the handling of sensitive information.
Define and implement information quality standards.
Develop and implement executive reporting and advisory systems.
Develop and implement strategic stakeholder identification systems.
Ensure that Client proactively engages with key stakeholders nationally and in the Gauteng Province.
Establish & promote two way communication between Gauteng Provincial Govt. Officials and
Establish & promote two way communication between City of Joburg & Ekurhuleni
Municipality Officials and Client representatives.
Establish & promote two way communication and collaboration between partner academic institutions and Client.
Attend and actively participate in Government events, industry conferences and other events.
Develop and implement stakeholder management systems and processes
Act as Client liaison between Gauteng Provincial and National Government, business forums, industry bodies, and academic institutions.
Represent Client at various special interest group events.
Facilitate National Government engagements with Client Exec.
Advocacy & Lobbying
Develop and implement issues management processes.
Develop and implement lobbying strategies in response to prioritized issues.
Develop and implement advocacy strategies to enhance Client corporate reputation.
Actively seek opportunities to showcase Client and elevate Client corporate reputation.
External Affairs Capacity
Develop the skill and competencies of team members through O.J.D
Coach & mentor junior team members.
Responsible for team leadership and performance management.
Regular benchmarking to incorporate best practice.
Ensure that team members receive required training.
Encourage team members to kaizen work processes.
Define External Affairs CAPEX and OPEX budget yearly.
Forecast budget 3-year OPEX and CAPEX for External Affairs.
Approval of Service Provider contracts (Monitoring Services, Research, Advisory, and Lobbying).
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
B Degree in Political Science, Law, Economics, Public Administration or similar (NQF 7 – 480 Credits on level 8 framework)
10+ years of relevant industry experience in external affairs working with government departments
Ability to interact and influence exec level
