MANAGER HEAD OF DEPARTMENT: FINANCE – KHATHU – NORTHERN CAPE
RESPONSIBILITIES
- To lead and manage (from planning to execution and review) the financial support services functions at Khumani operation to meet stakeholder requirements
- To ensure strategic plans and resources are in place to support the effective functioning, as well as effective management information for accurate reporting and decision making
- Includes the following functions:
- Financial Support Services: Oversee Management Accounting, Financial Accounting, Payroll, Tax, Supply Chain, Corporate Social Investment and Information Management and functions.
- Co-compile, sign-off and ensure the implementation of financial strategies: Responsible to sign-off and monitor the implementation of the Financial, Payroll, IT and Supply Chain strategies while ensuring strategies meet Mine requirements; Ensure compliance to relevant strategies; Alignment with strategic supply contracts to ensure low business interruption.
- Budget and Business Plan Implementation and Monitoring:
- Develop the financial inputs in Client’s 5-year business plan
- Ensure accurate financial forecasting and budgeting
- Compile and ensure all processes are in place to enable the effective coordination of the budget
- Complete forecasting to inform predicted profit making and cash flow predictions.
- Compliance, Corporate Governance, Insurance and Risk Management:
- Responsible to ensure compliance with all relevant statutory regulations including Companies Act, various Taxation legislation (including but not limited to Royalty Tax, Income Tax, Value Added Tax, Diesel Rebates and Employees Tax) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
- Ensure relevant King Code IV principles are implemented according to Head Office guidelines and Client’s compliance requirements.
- Financial Management: Ensure financial control, business planning, forecasting and financial report is reliable and accurate; Provide financial, tax and non-financial information to Corporate Head Office, Stakeholders and regulatory bodies for consolidation into company results. Provide support for continuous improvement initiatives and advise management on cost control measures and capital spend. Ensure adequate control over assets and that company assets are safe.
- Financial Reporting and Tax:
- Ensure all financial accounting and management reporting functions are compliant with relevant legislation and guiding principles;
- Facilitate, enable and manage the statutory external audit at Client and ensure that findings and recommendations are addressed
- Provide key financial and tax information to Head Office for consolidation into company results.
- Operational Governance:
- Represent the operation at the Audit Committee and Executive Committee
- Contact liaison for operational enterprise risk management
- Ensure adequate control over assets and company assets are safe
- Ensure financial results are reported.
- Ensure business plan are implemented:
- To support operational, quality and market imperatives
- Develop and implement the functional strategic plan in support of the overall business plan
- Accountability for the function’s performance, within the agreed strategic framework.
- BBBEE Scorecard Management:
- Ensure the BBBEE scorecard is in place for SED and ESD elements and completed on an annual basis
- Drive and monitor progress on a continuous basis.
- Internal and External Stakeholder Management:
- Ensure community expectations are addressed and perceptions are managed.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Commerce Degree (NQF level 7) in Financial Accounting/ Management Accounting (Essential)
- Bachelor of Commerce Honours Degree (NQF level 8) or equivalent (Essential)
- Post graduate Business / Finance qualification (Essential)
- Chartered Accountant: CA (SA) Qualification or equivalent (Recommended)
- Minimum of seven (7) years operational Financial Manager experience (including responsibility for Financial Accounting/Reporting, Management Accounting and Operational Taxation function) in a large mining environment with total assets under management in excess of R20 billion (Essential)
- Minimum of seven (7) years People management experience (Essential)
- Minimum of three (3) years operational auditing experience (Essential)
- Minimum of five (5) years operational, statutory and legal compliance experience (Essential)
