BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT AND STRATEGY MANAGER – WESTERN CAPE – SOMERSET WEST

PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The Business Development & Strategy Manager is responsible for leading across functional team to develop business cases for business development, mergers, acquisition and divestiture of projects. The incumbent must be able to research and analyse information in order to evaluate and assess viability of deals, risks, financial impact and develop proposal for approval.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Development

  • Compile and analyse data required for mergers, acquisitions and divestiture projects.
  • Conduct research, develop M&A strategies and identifying sectors and companies that might be viable business targets.
  • Develop and present detailed proposals, including risks and financial impact of targeted business

Development and Growth opportunities for approval.

  • Analyse company information and business proposals of targeted opportunities and present findings.
  • Carrying out financial modelling that support the assessment of M&A opportunities.
  • Manage merger and acquisition project management process including due diligence, risk management, negotiating terms, fund raising and liaising with key stakeholders.
  • Leading the transaction process from A to Z, including operational due diligence, synergy and portfolio review and post-merger integration.
  • Undertake growth strategies and market entry assessment to penetrate new markets for business growth.
  • Prepare customised presentations and detailed written reports to support Executives with board motivations.
  • Ability to travel locally and internationally.

Stakeholder Relationship Management

  • Building and maintaining productive relationships with business partners and related network.
  • Collaborate with other departments throughout the transaction process.
  • Provide support and information on market developments to relevant internal stakeholders.

Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with Company Policies and Procedures in relation to:
  • Internal company business processes
  • Relevant regulations and legislations
  • Support development of processes and procedures

POST REQUIREMENTS:

  • B Degree Honors / NQF 8 qualification in Business, Finance, Engineering, or equivalent
  • MBA will be advantageous
  • At least 5 – 8 years’ experience in top tier management consulting firm and / or financial institution
  • Proven mergers and acquisition, financial valuation modelling track record
  • Must have track record of completed commercial due diligence
  • Knowledge of Defence, Automotive and Renewable Energy environments
  • Business and financial acumen
  • Effectively interface at all levels of management
