GENERAL MANAGER – KRUGER NATIONAL PARK – LIMPOPO AND MPUMALANGA
To assume full responsibility for the daily operations of Lion Sands KNP, ensuring fiscal discipline, five-star Guest experience and effective leadership of the Management team.
KEY FOCUS AREAS
General Management
- Maintain and ensure the good will of the brand at a property level
- To be a key ambassador of the company and its brands, including hosting site inspections, communicating with the market and hosting journalists
- To ensure the developed set of company and property standards are upheld and maintained
- To ensure the management personnel is up to the company standard, ensuring a streamlined and effective management structure in line with hospitality trend
- Ensure effective monthly departmental meetings take place
- Assist in achieving the best procurement agreements for LSKNP & the company.
- Keep property innovative in Guest experience and up to date with competitors, trends etc.
- Be readily available to deal with Guest queries and complaints.
Development & Staff Management
- To earmark and develop individuals who show potential to grow into positions
- To implement training plans
- Provide effective leadership through professional man-management and encouragement of all subordinates, including mediation
Communication & Systems
- To maintain the use of existing systems in line with company standards
- To ensure both verbally and through effective communication platforms that the front-line staff communicate accurately and articulately with all guests
Human Resources and Community
- To ensure HR policies and procedures and disciplinary code are upheld
- To ensure all statutory requirements in the “Basic Conditions of Employment Act” are maintained by the lodge
Financial and Compliance
- To compile all operational expenditure budgets during the annual budget setting process for presentation to company General Manager of Operations
- To ensure compliance with set operational variable costs
- To attend monthly meetings with company Financial Manager
- To ensure correct operating licenses are in place and current
REQUIREMENTS – QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
✓ Grade 12 (essential)
✓ Degree/Diploma in Management/Finance/Tourism (advantageous)
✓ At least 5 years’ experience in senior management positions (essential)
✓ Previous experience within a 4-5 * Game Lodge
✓ Computer literate & MS Office Suite
✓ Keen interest in staff development
✓ Strong interpersonal & HR skills
✓ Strong Financial acumen
✓ Own reliable form of transport and valid drivers license
